Biscuits and Read

Year 8 students and their parents/carers were invited to the library this week for ‘biscuits and read.’

Everyone enjoyed snacks and drinks whilst reading aloud together from a selection of books in our library.

This initiative is a wonderful way to not only improve the learner’s reading fluency and confidence but is an opportunity for parents/guardians and their child to spend valuable time together.

This is the second event of its kind as Year 7 pupils were invited last half term.

A Year 8 parent said: “I have loved this morning. It is nice to have some time away from home with my son.”

GFM Librarian, Adele Hawksworth, said: “It is fantastic to have the community celebrate reading and recognising the important role it plays in the lives of their children. It’s been wonderful to see the connection between the learners and their parents/carers.”
