Information for Parents and Carers

Careers - FoodWe know that students place a good deal of importance on the advice they receive from home when it comes to making their education and career choices so we want to ensure that you have access to information which will help you to support your child. We appreciate that it can be difficult to understand the variety of pathways which lead to different occupations, especially as the landscape may have changed since you made your choices, with new qualifications such as T levels or degree apprenticeships becoming more prevalent. Therefore, as well as ensuring that our students have access to high quality career guidance we would like to draw your attention to routes you can use to learn more about their options.

The careers programme for the year can be found here and will show what your child should be experiencing by term.

All students will be offered a careers interview late in Y10 or in Y11 with one of our qualified careers advisors. We are proud to be one of 12 schools in the UK to have an advisor accredited as a Unifrog champion. The Unifrog tool which all students have access to is also open for use by parents – you can either view it with your child using their signin or if you would like a link to access yourself please email The tool contains valuable information on all aspects of career and education options and you are also welcome to utilise it for your own careers exploration.

We also provide the careers website which is regularly updated with all the latest information and contains key links on work, college and university.

Careers 4The provision of careers information has altered significantly due to the effects of Covid 19 and one of the upsides has been the proliferation of online material both live and pre-recorded. We encourage students to utilise this and regularly  highlight key provisions such as online careers fairs which you may want to attend with them (many run into the evening), employer talks or virtual work experience which can be accessed during school holidays.  Many colleges and universities also offer virtual open events, with the added benefit of allowing students to ‘visit’ establishments further afield. Our careers website also contains a fascinating range of talks by ex students  –

If you are interested in supporting our programme either as an employer or an ex student please visit our employer and alumni information pages.

To track the efficacy of the programme we will seek feedback from all parents annually at the end of the academic year and continue to adjust our provision based on this information. We welcome feedback at any time, please email the careers leader at
