Change to School Guidance on Face Coverings

Dear Parents and Carers,

In response to the increasing numbers of positive cases of COVID-19 in our community we have made the difficult decision to reintroduce face coverings for learners in our secondary phase classrooms and indoors around the school sites for ten school days (Monday 28th June – Friday 9th July). We will review this decision during the ten days and decide if face coverings will be required in the final week of term.

The government has advised that the reintroduction of face coverings for pupils, students or staff may be necessary for a temporary period in response to particular localised outbreaks, including variants of concern. This is a challenging decision but we recognise that any educational drawbacks will be balanced with the benefits of managing transmission. This is a temporary return to the policy that was introduced from the 8th March. All of the same routines, rules and exemptions will apply in exactly the same way. Pupils should bring a face covering to school and a spare one in their bag.

Thank you for your support in continuing to keep our community safe.
