Below is the live trips and visits calendar for both Brune Park and Bay House schools. This will give you an insight into the amazing opportunities already being offered and what to look forward to in the near future. Please note that some of these dates are subject to change, due to the nature of the visit.
Brune Park offers a variety of off-site visits, learning outside the classroom opportunities and clubs/societies, all of which aim to supplement and enhance the curriculum.
Learners are provided the opportunity to take part in many daytime visits including Christchurch Bay and Portchester Castle.
In addition learners also participate in regular learning outside the classroom activities around the school grounds.
We also offer enriching residential and overseas visits to the Isle of Wight, Malawi (working with the FOMO charity) and Royan, France (as part of a languages exchange).
Our exciting clubs and societies include our sports teams, Catering Club and the Page Turner Book Club.
PE and Sports Clubs are subject to seasonal change and current details can be found on the gym notice board.
The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award Scheme gives our pupils the opportunity to develop essential skills for life. With a focus on four areas; volunteering, physical, skills and expedition, the DofE expands the horizons of young people in numerous ways.
Working together and overcoming challenges in the outdoor environment develops self reliance and confidence, with participation in these shared experiences allowing initiative and teamwork to flourish.Pupils are able to make a difference to the lives of those in their community, as well as learning new skills throughout the programme.
Bay House School and Sixth Form is a licensed centre for the DofE Award Scheme. We currently offer the Bronze award to pupils in Year 9.
It will usually take you at least 6 months to complete your Bronze programme.
You also have to spend an extra three months on one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections. It’s your choice which one and, though you can change your mind later, you should decide which section you want to do for longer at the beginning. Knowing how long you’re going to do it for will help you to choose your activity and set your goals for each section.
