As part of helping ease the transition to secondary school, Year 6 pupils from Elson junior visited our community garden.
The pupils involved had the opportunity to practice and improve their gardening skills and have been planting flowers and tomatoes.
Ms Hull at Elson Juniors said: “Their is brilliant value in this project to ease what can be a very tricky transition process for some young people.”
Barbara Cooke, from Abri Housing – a sponsor of the garden, said: “It is great to celebrate linking up and the project means coming to secondary school will be less daunting. It is wonderful to see young people growing their own food and understanding the process of where it comes from, which are all lifelong skills.”
