End of Year Exams – Year 7, 8 & 9
Last term we did some work with our Year 11 cohort, as they came to the end of the GCSE exam
period this year, on which strategies they felt were most helpful when it came to preparing them
for the all important final exams. We learnt a lot from this process, by asking students what more
we can do as a school, to ensure they feel ‘exam ready’ by the end of Year 11.
Overwhelmingly, our Year 11 students said that practical exam experience is vital. They really
valued the fact that we put on a number of ‘mock’ exams during Year 10 and 11, and suggested
that we make exams a more normal part of the school experience throughout the lower Year
Groups too.
Last year we successfully ran end of year exams for Year 7, 8 and 9, and have been preparing
the students again this year, to go through the same process.
