GFM Closure Monday May 25 to Friday May 29

Full GFM closure: Monday May 25 – Friday May 29

You will have seen much in the National News about the preparation of schools for a partial re-opening after June 1 – dependent on what the Scientific advice is on May 28.

We take very seriously our responsibility for the young people we serve, and to our workforce, thus are trying to do all we can to respond to each stage of the Nation’s response to the pandemic with thought, caution and care. This is because we want our decisions to be as sound and sustainable as we can manage, and that decisions consider the impact on all across the community.

We have made the decision to close the GFM, taking a complete break for what would have been the half-term break.

There will be no provision onsite or online because we recognise that having a holiday is in everyone’s best interests – we are encouraging students and staff to take a much needed break.

Provision for children of critical workers will be closed from Monday May 25, to Friday May 29.

The provision will re-open on the Brune Park site on June 1.

We are very grateful to parents, carers and the young people who have made appropriate use of the onsite provision through the period of school closure to date; using the provision proportionately, safely and as part of the ‘togetherness’ nationally to protect the NHS.   And of course our thanks to the GFM staff who continue to contribute to this collective effort.
