GFM Schools Support Food Banks With Christmas Hamper Appeal

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the GFM community has been really fortunate to be supported by local charities such as Jacob’s Well and the Gosport and Fareham Basics Bank in supporting local families, including those that attend our schools.

The community spirit we have seen over the course of this year has been remarkable and the endeavour we in helping each other and being kind is a testament to the young people of Gosport.

Pupils and students are really keen that we continue our support of these wonderful organisations over the festive period, so even more families and individuals who are truly in need of a little bit of help are able to get it. Last week, the Christmas Hamper Appeal was launched.

The aim is to give back to those charities that have supported us in helping the families in our community. Pupils and students are leading the drive for every tutor group across the GFM Secondary Phase to create, and fill a Christmas Hamper. We will then split the hampers between Jacob’s Well and the Gosport and Fareham Basics Bank. A list of suggested items has been provided to our students during their assembly and tutor periods, and can also be found attached to this letter.

If you would like to know more information about these charities, their web pages can be found by following these links:

Tutors will be asking students to donate items, if they are able to, in order to fill the tutor group hampers up until Monday 14th December when we will celebrate with a Christmas Jumper Day. The student’s donation to the Christmas Hamper Appeal will replace the usual monetary donation.

On the 14th, a special GFM assembly is due to take place and we hope that both the Mayor of Gosport and Portsmouth News will join us as we handover the hampers and pass on the love and kindness from our wonderful young people.

We are extremely grateful for your efforts in supporting this worthwhile cause and hope that you and your families stay safe throughout and beyond the festive period.

Mr D Stokes, Mr P Quirke, Miss A Robinson & all staff at the GFM
