‘In order to maintain our peace and freedom, we must always remember.’

‘Gosport remembers’ was hosted by Brune Park School and attended by a range of special visitors including serving services personnel, veterans, students and staff of GFM schools, services families of Gosport, members of local government and education leaders.

There were candle lit processions to visit installations across the school; created by students and staff as shared acts of remembrance, respect, commemoration and hope.  Installations included works of creativity from Art to Dance to Design, student music and poetry performances.

The closing ceremony ended a very special evening with a series of readings, war poetry and the sounding of The Last Post.

‘I was so proud to be welcomed to such a poignant event hosted by the school.  The student guides were remarkable with their reflections on conflict and war, their knowledge and their humanity.  Seeing young people lead an event such as this, with such respect and compassion was at times almost overwhelming.  A wonderful, wonderful evening and thank you to everyone involved.’  Louise Webb – Local fundraiser.
