Scrutiny and Advisory Groups (SAAGs)

In the Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust (GFM) we benefit from teams of non-Executives who work in Scrutiny and Advisory Groups to support and challenge GFM Executive school leaders.

Known as Ambassadors, these non-Executives scrutinise practice within GFM schools, informing their questioning of school leaders with evidence taken from their visits to the schools as well as information provided in documents.

The active leadership and governance of school improvement within the GFM rests with two SAAGs (Scrutiny and Advisory Groups) carrying out the heavy-lifting with the Executive Director of Schooling (who line manages the school leaders) and the CEO, who, in turn line manages the Executive Director of Schooling.

A Trustee of the GFM Board is active within each SAAG, thus providing connection with the MAT Board. Reporting to the Board on School improvement is the responsibility of the CEO, Director of Schooling and the connected Trustee.
