Congratulations to students in Year 7 and 8 who won the Hampshire FA County Football Final hosted at Stoneham Lane Football Complex.
PE Teacher, Miss Willis, said: “This was a 7-a-side tournament with a total of 15 teams in attendance. There were schools from all over Hampshire and even a few from the Isle of Wight. This talented group of individuals had never played before as a team. Mr Powell and I are extremely impressed with how they came together and put on a true display of their talents.
“This team were undefeated throughout the group stages and topped their group to reach the Semi-Finals. In the Semis, they faced Henry Court where Maddison Matthews put the ball in the back of the net following a fantastic assist by Jada Douglas. The girls then reached the finals against Swanmore and at which point the nerves began to set in.
“Despite this, they all individually contributed to what was a heavily dominated Brune Park final and the game ended 1-0. It was a fantastic day and we are extremely impressed with the display of talent from the girls.
“They were very worthy winners and a massive shout out to the player of the tournament Jada Douglas who scored a total of 6 goals across the competition!”
