On Tuesday 19th June, ten of our Year 9 students went to the University of Chichester to participate in their annual ‘Chi Rocks’ event. ‘Chi Rocks’ is a 3-day intensive workshop-based project where the students work with students from other schools,as well as the university,to form their own song writing company. They attended lectures on songwriting, marketing and business strategy and then used these new skills to work together to compose their own songs and create marketing and merchandise campaigns,leading up to their final Showcase where the students performed live on stage in the
Students’Union. Mrs Hughes, Teacher of Music, said “As teachers, we had no input at all in the creative process. The students worked completely independently with the Chi Rocks Ambassadors from start to finish. Seeing them perform their own work live at the final Showcase was incredible. I felt so proud of all of them and everything they had achieved. They also formed some great new friendships with the other students in their groups and their chemistry and energy on stage really added to their performances.”
